L'Orpheline ("Orphan") by Serge Lutens feels like incense suspended in air—light, quiet, and softly illuminated. Inspired by dust drifting through shafts of light, this is a far more transparent take on incense than its notes might suggest.
It opens with a cool, sheer veil of incense that feels pale and airy rather than smoky or heavy. Patchouli adds subtle texture underneath, while musk keeps everything soft, smooth, and close to the skin.
There's a weightless quality to L'Orpheline that makes it especially distinctive. It doesn't project loudly or overwhelm—instead, it lingers like something soft caught in sunlight: calm, clean, and quietly expressive.
