Angelique Noire by Guerlain is a striking study in contrast: verdant angelica flower and root set against opulent vanilla. Crisp, herbal, and faintly bitter at the start, it quickly finds its balance as creamy sweetness rises to meet the green edge, creating a tension that feels elegant, modern, and intimate.

Often used sparingly in perfumery because of its bitterness, angelica takes center stage here in two French-produced essences (seed and root). Pink peppercorn adds lift, while cedar lends a clean, dry structure that keeps the vanilla polished rather than sugary. The result is a “green vanilla” with real depth: fresh at the top, enveloping in the drydown, and quietly unforgettable.
